The Difference Between “Transparent” Lace and “Normal” Lace

Lace for wigs can come in many colors such as: light brown, medium brown, dark brown, etc. The various colors of the lace are designed to complement the different skin tones of the people that wear them. However, transparent lace is suitable for people of all skin colors. How is that possible you may ask? A lot of our new customers may not be aware of the differences between “transparent” lace and “normal” or “regular” lace

Transparent lace is usually made in France or Switzerland. Swiss lace is the most commonly used to make transparent lace. Transparent lace is very thin and breathable. Because the transparent lace is thinner than normal lace, it is much more difficult to detect. Applied correctly, quality transparent lace can look just like your real scalp. Additionally, transparent lace has smaller, less obvious knots. As such it is much easier to bleach the knots for a truly camouflaged look.

With “normal” lace, darker skin tones need to use chocolate brown lace or middle brown lace. It is possible for dark skin toned people to use light brown lace, but they would most likely need to darken the lace with makeup or some other type of tint. The main benefit of using transparent lace, is that you don’t have to darken the lace. The lace just melts into your skin.

Transparent lace wigs provide the balance needed between natural looks and durability. You can wear a transparent lace front wig anyway you want. The downside of transparent lace wigs is the price; they are a bit more expensive than the light brown, medium brown and dark brown normal laces.

Now, HD lace is a different story that offers even better benefits.
